Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Kids: Should Daughter Shiloh Be Called 'John' By Media? 2015 Declared 'Year Of The Transgender Child' [VIDEO]

Following the longtime request to be reffered to as John rather than Shiloh, parents of the 8-year-old Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are facing public judgement and questioning.

IB TImes reported that back in 2008, Oprah broke the news that their then 2-year-old daughter wanted to be called John when Pitt was on the show.

"She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it's a Peter Pan thing," he said.

In 2010, Jolie told Vanity Fair that Shiloh likes dressing up like a boy.

"Shiloh, we feel has Montenegro style. It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits. So it's a suit with a tie and a jacket and slacks, or a tracksuit. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers," she said.

Now, publications like AL.com and Alternet are questioning whether the media should be changing her pronouns and referring to her as John, and forget the name Shiloh altogether.

Though Jolie said in reaction to speculation about her young daughter, that labeling or judging children based on how they outwardly express themselves is wrong.

"Society always has something to learn when it comes to the way we judge each other, label each other. We have far to go," Jolie said.

Alternet is the publication that recently declared 2015 the "Year of the Transgender Child" where the writer repeatedly refers to Shiloh as John.
